🍳 Risky Recipes
🥄 Game Overview
Welcome to Chef Rudy's restaurant, where the food is half-cooked, the customers are confused, and the kitchen is pure chaos!
In Risky Recipes, players collect daring dishes to gain Power, dodge Food Poisoning, and sabotage their friends. Play Food and Action cards to achieve culinary victory — but beware! One bite of Mystery Meat or Forbidden Pizza might ruin your stomach (and your chances).
🎯 Objective
Reach 20 Power from Food cards while keeping your Food Poisoning at 4 or less to win!
👩🍳 Setup and Play
- Shuffle all cards in the deck and deal 5 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards in the deck in the center. This will become the draw pile. Make space for a discard pile next to the draw pile.
- Leave Food Poisoning tokens and the Flip Coin in the center. Each player starts with 0 Food Poisoning tokens.
- The order of play is determined by the players. (Recommendation: Oldest goes first.)
- Each player's turn begins by drawing 1 card from the deck. The player can then play up to 2 cards from their hand per turn. Players can play any combination of Food Card(s) to add to their plate, Action Card(s), or no cards at all, if they choose.
- (Note: You can't have more than 7 cards in your hand at the end of your turn — if you do, discard until you have 7.)
- If the draw pile runs out at any point, reshuffle the cards in the discard pile and continue playing as many times as necessary.
🍔 Food Cards
Food cards add Power but often cause Food Poisoning (FP). The top of each card shows the Food card's Power and the bottom will have FP and/or instructions for you to follow.
🍽️ Plate Rules
Keep Food Cards you play face up on your Plate — this is your display of food that counts toward your total Power.
⚠️ Food Poisoning Rules
You can never have more than 4 FP Tokens. If you exceed 4 FP, you Throw Up — remove all Food cards from your Plate and place into the discard pile. Your FP also resets to 0 — place all FP tokens back into the center pile.
Note: Keep all the cards in your hand.
🎰 Flip Coin Rules
Certain Food cards require you to take your chances and play the Flip Coin!
- Action Coin Flip: Call Heads or Tails during flip.
- Correct Call: You succeed! (e.g., Avoid Food Poisoning or remove Food Poisoning based on Food Card description).
- Incorrect Call: You failed! (e.g, Receive Food Poisoning or retain Food Poisoning based on Food Card description).
💥 Action Cards
Fridge Clean Up: Discard your entire hand into the discard pile and draw 3 new cards from the draw pile. If this is your first card played, you may play another card.
Give Me That: Take one random card from another player's hand and add it to your own. You do not have to play the card immediately.
Here's Some Food: Choose to give a player 1 Food Poisoning Token from the center pile or give them a food card to play immediately. If the chosen player has more than 4 FP as a result, then they will Throw Up.
Let Him Cook: This card must be played with a Raw Food Card. This combo counts as one card played. You gain the Food Card's Power and effects, but not its Food Poisoning. If this is your first card played, you may play another card.
Let's Dig In: Draw 2 cards from the draw pile and add them to your hand.
No No No: This card can only be played in response to an Action card targeting you at any time — never against another No No No.
Take Some Meds: Remove 2 Food Poisoning tokens from your Plate and return them to the center pile. This card can still be played even if you have less than 2 Food Poisoning tokens.
Toss the Plate: Remove 1 card of your choosing from another player's Plate and add it to the discard pile. This does not remove the associated Food Poisoning.
